spring graduation

As you might imagine, it takes months of hard work to prepare for 26 graduation ceremonies over 7 days. Some of the activities taking place behind-the-scenes leading up to graduation include:

  • Working with faculty advising offices to ensure all graduates are approved in time for graduation.
  • Organizing all students into ceremony and procession order.
  • Printing and organizing all parchments.
  • Assembling the draft ceremony booklet for publication.
  • Preparing the graduation list before it goes to Senate for conferral.
  • Recruiting 2 marshals for each of the 26 ceremonies.
  • Transporting boxes and boxes and boxes of parchments to the grad centre (26 times!)

Congratulations to the whole team for your hard work and attention to detail. It all contributed to another successful spring graduation!

And last, but not least, a big congratulations goes out to all the recent grads who convocated over the past two weeks in Vancouver!

If you haven’t volunteered to marshal or attended a ceremony in the past, you should definitely consider doing so during the next graduation period in November. It’s always a great experience to take part in the excitement with graduates and their families.

Keep an eye out in October for Brenda’s call for marshals, or tune in to a ceremony live stream.
