It’s fall, and we are sending a call out to help with this November’s graduation ceremonies in Vancouver. Graduation will take place on November 22, 23 and 24.

The job is simple and is a great opportunity for you to connect with students and participate in an exciting and important UBC event.  In the basement/ballroom of the Graduate Student Centre, you hand the students their diplomas before they go to their ceremony, which is held in the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. This is also a fun time to be around the courtyard to see our new Alumni celebrating!

We will need 2 volunteers for each ceremony and the time commitment is only about 30 to 45 minutes.

How it works:

    1. Show up at least 45 minutes prior to the time stated in the Doodle Poll, the official start time of each ceremony. (ie.  If the ceremony starts at 9:30 am, please show up at 8:45 am etc.)
    2. A senior marshal will be giving the students their instructions.
    3. Once the instructions are done, the students will be led past us in 2 lines. As they walk past us, we give them their diplomas.
    4. When the diplomas have all been given out, you’re free to head off back to your office.

To sign up please visit the Doodle poll in the link below:

The signup deadline is Friday, November 3rd.

The ceremony schedule can be found at the following link:  http://graduation.ubc.ca/schedule-fall-2017/

Friends graduating?
If you have a friend who is graduating, let us know when you arrive and we can situate you in the line up where your friend will be processing through and you can congratulate and give them their diploma yourself!

Thanks to all who are able to help out!
