There are multiple sources of funding available for you to access if you want to learn something new, upgrade a skill or take part in a professional development activity.<\/p>\n
The Tuition Fee Benefit<\/a> covers tuition costs to\u00a0eligible<\/a>\u00a0employees, up to a maximum of 12 credits of undergraduate credit courses per year; this benefit can also be transferred to the staff member’s spouse or children.<\/p>\n Waivers also cover the dollar equivalent in tuition for non-credit courses offered by UBC Continuing Studies and UBC Okanagan Continuing Studies. This benefit\u00a0cannot<\/i>\u00a0be transferred to spouses or children.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Management staff<\/a>, and\u00a0nonunion technicians<\/a>\u00a0are eligible for waivers for graduate-level courses and programs. This benefit\u00a0cannot<\/i>\u00a0be transferred to spouses or children.<\/p>\n Eligibility generally requires at least 3 months of service (12 months for hourly staff) & at least 50% FTE. The waiver will be sent to Continuing Studies and used to register you. Do\u00a0not<\/i>\u00a0register for your course before obtaining a waiver<\/p>\n Job Skills Training Program (JSTP) funding is available to support the professional development needs of staff in the CUPE 2950 employment group.<\/p>\n Some changes for 2013-2014 funding year include:<\/p>\n CUPE staff have free access to\u00a0Lynda.com<\/a>,\u00a0an industry leading software and technology online training service.
