I could not agree more with\u00a0Jaxon\u00a0that Facebook entering in a new market is an incredibly smart decision to combat the rise of\u00a0business friendly streams within the workplace cutting off a value stream for Facebook to gain more consumers. However, I feel that’s Porter’s idea on competitive advantage does not correctly express what\u00a0Facebook\u00a0has done to differentiate themselves. The company is doing different things to differentiate themselves yes but, they are\u00a0not the only ones providing there new services. They are gaining new competitors that are with in the new market. I feel that \u00a0Rita Mcgrath\u2019s<\/span><\/a>\u00a0concept of transient advantage, is that business must be constantly\u00a0evolving and adapting in order to sustain a competitive advantage.\u00a0\u00a0Facebook is no different, as for many years they dominated the\u00a0social media platform. I would argue that\u00a0slack and other\u00a0workplace companies are examples of sustainable competitive advantage. Facebook\u2019s response of entering the\u00a0workplace market is their way to combat these companies from stealing\u00a0\u00a0millions of possible customers. \u00a0As\u00a0Facebook has clearly realized,\u00a0workplace\u00a0is very useful for companies\u00a0and is a definite threat to their dominance at the top of there industry. Evolving\u00a0Facebook by creating\u00a0Workplace, the company is positioning themselves to sustain their\u00a0transient advantage over\u00a0other workplace\u00a0companies as well as social media companies.
