Welcome to DLG10 – The Ecology of Educational Technology!
“Thus the discipline of ecology is literally the study of households, including the plants, animals, microbes, and people that live together as interdependent beings. It is a discipline that has increasingly emphasized holitsic studies of both parts and wholes.” (Zhao & Frank, 2003)
We are living in a time of accelerating change and increasing removal of ourselves from nature. This is due, primarily, to the widespread use of technology. How is technology changing us? What will the future look like? Will this invading species wipe us out or improve our lives? Many of you have likely already seen the video below. Whether you have or not, please take a few minutes now to view it.

The Team
Sophia Barton-Bucknor is an education and youth services manager who is interested in utilizing educational technology in courses and workshops for adoption and foster care professionals, parents and youth.
Kevin McGuire is an adult education specialist working in the Vancouver School District. He is an advocate and a leader in his school for the integration of technology in the classroom.
Ronna Hoglund is a professor at a community college who teaches in a 2 year diploma program. She is fascinated by the evolution of technology in the classroom and in her profession in pharmacy. She has seen many technologies come and go and has witnessed the rise and fall of the zebra mussel invasion in Lake Erie!
