Definition

  • Monetary resources limit what it is possible to produce.

Philosophy

  • The economic environment influences the concept of what is possible.

Design

  • Budget determines design possibilities.

Ethics

  • Economic resources determine the type of technology available and who has access to it.

Anthropology and Sociology

  • Financial resources affect anthropology by determining what type of technological artifacts are developed and how they can be used.
  • The technology then influences sociology by influencing how people can interact and collaborate.

History

  • Economic advantages have defined the path and progress of technological development.

Politics

  • Politics determines the type of technology that is invested in.

Psychology

  • Technology may be selected on the basis of popularity and/or familiarity.

Ecology

  • There are ‘hidden’ costs that arise due to the ‘disposable’ nature of technology.

Spirituality

  • Religious beliefs may influence what types of technology are purchased or used.
