After spending some time with the readings this week, I wonder perhaps if there is no single “best way” to teach. When I consider the learner and think about learning styles I immediately think of Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences work. I would like to see Instructional Designers place more emphasis on meeting individual student’s needs rather than a “one size fits all” approach. Unlike Clark, I think the mode with which we chose to deliver instruction matters. For myself, I find I am a visual learner and tend to learn better when I can see something. I tend to agree with Kozma who believes that we cannot separate media and method. Both ThinkerTools and the Jasper project demonstrate good designs; technological mediums that allow methods to personalize learning for the individual. Honestly, I do not think there are enough technological programs that allow for differentiated instruction.
