About Me
My name is Lindsey Martin. I am 28 and a Secondary Teacher in Surrey BC, Canada. I teach Social Studies and History – I love it!! My hobbies, besides doing MET course work, are playing hockey, running 1/2 marathons (running in general), reading (who has the time!! I’m still working on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), and spending time with friends and family.
Within this program, and this class, I hope to learn more about technology and its various applications in the classroom. I believe that schools are starting to focus more on technology and its applications, and teachers are starting to focus on how it can be incorporated in our lesson plans. Technology can be used ineffectively, and I hope to learn how to maximize the potential of technology and truly stimulate student learning. It is my job to create meaningful lessons for the classroom; technology will play a major role in this regard. I have had success in using technology to further develop ideas in my own classes, and want to expand my knowledge to generate further success. The students respond well to the use of a variety of technology and it would be beneficial for them and me to pursue this subject.
I also hope to find answers to some of the questions I have about technology in the classroom and its applications. I am genuinely interested in this topic and truly desire to know more. In addition, I hope to learn more ways to use it in my own practice. As a teacher, it is important to continue life long learning and I believe by studying this expanding area I can be a more effective teacher. Through the program, I would like to use the knowledge I have gained to aid my fellow colleagues in their pursuit for technology education information. I hope to learn how to choose the most appropriate technologies and instructional strategies to achieve my goals. It is important to grow as an educator, and I believe that this program is the best path to follow.
