{"id":1226,"date":"2009-11-10T06:38:23","date_gmt":"2009-11-10T14:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec521\/?p=1226"},"modified":"2009-11-10T06:44:01","modified_gmt":"2009-11-10T14:44:01","slug":"assembly-of-first-nations-blog-m3-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec521\/2009\/11\/10\/assembly-of-first-nations-blog-m3-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Assembly of First Nations Blog (M3-5)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/assemblyoffirstnations.blogspot.com\/\">http:\/\/assemblyoffirstnations.blogspot.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afn.ca\/\">Assembly of First Nations<\/a> is a national aboriginal advocacy organization in Canada that works alongside government to work on behalf of first nations on major political issues.\u00a0 Although the Assembly of First Nations\u2019 website is very informative and would prove a valuable resource in research of First Nations political involvement, I feel it is also beneficial to discuss the Assembly\u2019s blog.<\/p>\n<p>The blog provides opinion and information on political issues as well as links to relevant journalism.\u00a0 The reason I chose to highlight this blog is that I am curious to know why it has not been updated since the 2008 federal election.\u00a0 In fact, upon browsing through the archives, it appears that only a small number of posts appear under each month, many of which are links to resources on the Assembly\u2019s site and news stories.<\/p>\n<p>I am left wondering about the effectiveness of blogging when trying to reach First Nations in Canada.\u00a0 Is it that the general public does not know about the blog? Is it that blogging is not a popular tool for first nations?
