I greatly enjoyed participating in the OE (Open Educational) Global Conference this past week. As I asked a question on here with regards to planning the workshop I was facilitating on Drawing Eyes and Building Awareness Around Open Educational Resources, I thought I’d share the workshop recording and some of the challenges of OER awareness, as the people in the room saw them.
Jessica Daicos‘ feedback that she shared with me on my query on OERs was really spot on to the problem, so I used that to lead into the workshop, and then afterwards I shared some feedback from fellow MET student Melissa Drake, that she shared with me via the MET Facebook community group. On the day, MET graduate Danielle Dubien helped me facilitate, along with Alan Levine.
This is just a beginning, so if you wish to join myself and others from the OE Global Conference in creating an awareness building campaign around OERs, we’d love that. Click here for the workshop home on OEG Connect. If OEG Connect is not open for you to engage on now, then it will be soon and in meantime you can just drop me a note and I will tie you into the brainstorming discussion and planning. In particular, we could really use some grade school and community educators, as well as educational entrepreneurs involved, as at present the group is rather post-secondary heavy.
One of the goals of the campaign will be to share spaces for both sharing and finding OERs. One such space is the OER World Map, created by some OE Global Conference delegates who would love it if you would list and share links to your OERs there. Click here to register.
