Hello everyone,
My name is Terrence and I live in Vancouver BC. This is my 6th MET course, and I am also taking ETEC 520 this term. Nice to meet you all!
Although my background is not directly related to teaching, I still considers myself as an engineer-side of educator. I completed my Bachelor of Applied Science in Electronic Engineering and had 5+ years of engineering design experience. Currently, I am the co-founder of a technology company focused on delivering and developing products to promote STEM education, particularly in the areas of applied science and engineering. With years of industrial development and professional training under EGBC, I am building up experience and know-how skills to meet new challenges!
My academic interests include understanding the educational research process and pedagogues involved in STEM, project-based learning, and experiments. I am keen to be involved in any hands-on electronics design and projects. I constantly deconstructing and reconstructing objects such as household gadgets, a radio transmitter, a toy remote car and so on!
I just want to quickly show you guys one of my previous invention: MEGO, it is a portable power supply and it can be directly plug fits to a standard breadboard. The output voltage can be adjusted from 4V to 24V and displayed by an accurate display digital readout. It is a great tool for doing electronics experiment!
Lastly, looking forward to work/study with all of you guys!
Thanks
Terrence
Hey Terrence, I think it’ll be great to have your engineering and design perspectives in this course. Reading your intro I was reminded of the Youtube channel “Unnecessary Inventions”. That’s not to say that I think your inventions are unnecessary, but rather due to your ability to and interest in deconstructing and reconstructing various products.
HI Terrence
I love your idea. …. have you tried this only in North America. I travel a lot between Europe and Canada and one of the continuing issues is voltage / current differences.
Would love to know more.
thanks for this,
Hi Sheena,
I’m delighted to hear that you’re interested in this idea. Currently, our customer base primarily consists of individual customers and makers from Europe, as well as Australia and various Asian countries. We are proud to have sold our products globally. However, when it comes to school orders in bulk quantities, we are primarily focused on serving customers in North America at the moment.
On a lighter note, the voltage difference issue can be quite bothersome. It often requires the use of a large adapter or voltage transformer to adjust the voltage accordingly.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and understanding. If you have any further questions or need more information, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
