Hello all!

Hello everyone! My name is Paul Brown and I am from Victoria, BC Canada. I am currently in my third year working abroad teaching high school Business at a Canadian international school in Guangzhou, China. I am fortunate to live in a community just outside the city that has lots of parks, community space and walking trails. I spend my free time cycling, eating at the many delicious local restaurants and exploring different parts of Asia. I’ve enjoyed my time working abroad but am looking forward to moving back to Canada in August.

I am currently in my 4th and 5th course of the program. I am interested in the business side of education technology and the way technology development is being created to meet the needs of a rapidly developing online learning sector.

Looking forward to getting started and doing my best to manage a busy work/school schedule.

Hey Paul! Good on you taking two MET courses. I know many colleagues that have done so but I’ve always taken just the one at a time- slow and steady. haha, I should be done the program in a year.
How long have you been in Guangzhou? I was in Shenzhen for a couple of years, managed to see many places in China but never actually went to Guangzhou even though it was so close.

Hey Nick! Totally get the slow and steady approach good on you. Two, at times, is hectic but I am fortunate to have some time during spare periods and lunch during the work day to pick away.
This is my third year teaching Guangzhou. I’ve checked out Shenzhen a few times it’s a great place! Super easy car or train ride. Where about are you working now?

That’s great! Yes, I really enjoyed Shenzhen and hope to get back to visit China one day. I’m teaching at an independent school in Delta, BC now. While I’m happy here and have a great role, the allure of international teaching is too tempting, so I anticipate being abroad again at some point.
