Could Assima Train Be the Future of Software Simulation Training?

Posted in (A1) Analyst Report

Artificial intelligence, automation, and simulation technologies are changing how organizations train people on complex software. But when you’re working with highly specialized tools, the biggest challenge isn’t creating training—it’s creating training that can keep up with constant software updates, global learners, and increasing demand.

One of my biggest takeaways from this Educational Venture Analysis (EVA) is that the best learning technologies don’t just offer impressive features; they solve real problems.

For me, that means technology should:

  • Reduce the time and effort required to build and maintain training
  • Scale across global audiences and multiple languages
  • Help learners build real confidence using complex software

As an Instructional Designer at Seequent, I build interactive software simulations that help geoscientists learn specialized applications used around the world. Through this project, I had the opportunity to step back from my day-to-day work and evaluate whether Assima Train could be a strategic investment to improve how we create and deliver simulation-based training.

My analysis explored:

  • Market opportunity
  • Competitive positioning
  • Educational value
  • Risks and implementation challenges
  • Long-term investment potential

Rather than recommending an immediate rollout, my conclusion was Invest with Conditions. A structured pilot would allow Seequent to validate Assima’s compatibility with its complex 3D software before making a larger investment.

More importantly, this project helped me realize something bigger: there is a significant gap in the market. While Assima is a strong solution, no platform has been purpose-built for the unique simulation training needs of specialist scientific and geospatial software. That insight has become the foundation for my next project, where I’ll explore what that purpose-built solution could look like.

If you’re interested in learning technologies, simulation training, or how educational technology decisions are made inside organizations, I hope you enjoy reading my Educational Venture Analysis.
