As a higher ed administrator and instructor, I have a keen interest in new ed tech tools that may assist in safeguarding academic integrity, particularly when it comes to online written assessments. This Analyst Report dives into the software ‘Matcha Writer’ (Modern Authoring Tool for Certified Human Authorship), a tool that features ‘three supervision models in one app,’ and where the value proposition for educators is that its goal is in the prevention of AI misuse, rather than simply detection. My Analyst Report takes the form of a video, with the target audience being Chief Online Learning Officers (COLO) who may be interested in institutional adoption of this software. My EVA recommendation is that while the software is innovative and addresses very real pain points in higher ed (and as such, will likely see much uptake at the course-level), institutional adoption at the enterprise level could be costly and potential risks may outweigh its value proposition.
