Thanks for your submission. You seem very confident and well-versed in your venture, and I definitely took some notes on how to curate mine. Thanks for that!
I thought your “Why Existing Solutions Fall Short” graphic was particularly useful; showing the EVAs that you have done your research while simultaneously pitching yours as better for the reasons you stated. Very succinct.
One thing that stuck with me though; You labelled the UK, Australia, and New Zealand as your target hiring pools for the Year 3 international outreach because they have skilled labour and already speak English. To my mind though, your pitch kind of makes it sound like it’s more geared to people who are ESL (English as a Second Language) and are having a hard time transitioning despite their international education.
So I guess I’m just wondering if I misinterpreted who the core target market is? Would this tool be useful to both ESL and native English speakers? If so, would there be a differentiation built into the AI’s training data to help support the wide range of users? I would imagine you could open up a massive target market if you were to include skilled ESL workers as well, particularly out of Asia.

Sorry if that phrasing was confusing in my VP slide, what I meant by that is that this app is for internationally educated professionals who know some english, so ESL immigrants. I chose AUS, UK, and NZ because they have similar immigration profiles to Canada. They have internationally educated professionals migrating there with skilled labour credentials and meet English language requirements. This app is only targeting English speaking people right now and improving their English speaking workplace communication as English is the universal language, so I thought it would be easiest to start there 🙂 hope that helps. This could definitely be useful to native english speakers too if they choose to use it!

Thanks for sharing your pitch! I think that you’ve got a fantastic idea that meets a real need. Your tagline of “Canada doesn’t have a workforce challenge, it has a communication challenge” is really memorable and I think that it shares the core goal of your platform perfectly.
As a career counsellor who works in higher education, I really like that you are tackling newcomer underemployment. I have worked with students who have so much experience in their home countries, but struggle to communicate in the Canadian workplace. It creates a real barrier to meaningful employment in my experience. I would gladly recommend your platform to my students.
Since you have such a broad, comprehensive vision over the next three years, I think the strategy of targeting individual users first is a good one. I think that institutional spaces can be a bit more complex as they may already have software license agreements, so the core target of individual users is appealing to me from an investment perspective. In my mind, if you can gain credibility first with individual users, it may help with the institutional market as you expand in that direction. I think that you did a wonderful job bringing this idea to life!

Hi Gerta,
as an EAL teacher, I love the concept of BridgeVoice. You’ve identified a tangible target market, laid out realistic goals this market has, and explained succinctly how BridgeVoice would help them with those goals. Part of the problem these learners face is that English teachers are experts in English, not experts in healthcare, engineering, etc, which comprises the language functions they’ll actually need, and BridgeVoice is a great solution to that very specific problem.
My only concern is that the learning pathway you’ve highlighted seems to assume an already decently high level of English. What I mean is, your AI builds a learning pathway based on the profession, then simulates workplace conversations, provides interview practice, etc, but the vast majority of newcomers need far more basic English. It’s hard to jump into a healthcare-related conversation simulation for someone who is still A1 or A2 and can’t yet use basic grammar and lexis. For those people, the generic coaching and fixed curricula you mention as current solutions may actually be more effective until they achieve a higher language baseline. How would BridgeVoice handle these learners?
Overall, I think this is a fantastic idea, and I think it has real merit to succeed. My EVA recommendation is to invest once the aspect I mentioned is sufficiently explained.

I really enjoyed your elevator pitch and thought Bridge Voice AI addressed a very real and important need. I especially liked the focus on internationally educated professionals who may have strong qualifications and English proficiency but still need support building confidence with professional communication. Starting in healthcare also seems like a strong approach, while still leaving room to expand into other professional areas in the future.
One area I would be interested in learning more about is how Bridge Voice AI would account for different accents and communication styles when providing real-time feedback. I think it would be important to ensure that the AI supports effective professional communication without encouraging users to change aspects of their speech that do not actually affect their ability to communicate successfully. Learning more about how Bridge Voice AI would address this would make me even more confident in the venture.
Overall, I thought this was a very strong and compelling pitch. Great job!

I think this is a cool and unique idea, especially as we are in need of more healthcare workers. One thing that I would want to know as an investor is if there are going to be barriers in this process due to difference in certification requirements between countries and if there is a shortened certification process to help with this.

What an excellent venture pitch, Gerta! I really appreciated the quality of your slides, professional layout of the video, and exciting elevator pitch. This is an area I have little hands-on knowledge of and you did a really good job of explaining the problem and outlining your solution. I especially liked that you used customer examples to demonstrate how BridgeVoice AI would address their challenges.
I think you do a good job of outlining your business model, market opportunity, and financial outlook. A three-year staged launch for BirdgeVoice AI is a good way to build confidence in the platform before expanding internationally.
One suggestion I would make is to expand your section on Investment Opportunity. I felt like it would have been helpful to include more details about what some of the partnerships you are developing would look like. If time allowed, breaking down the seed funding amount to show how it would be allocated towards your funding priorities would have strengthened your pitch even more.
Overall, I love your idea, think there is a serious need for this type of tool, and I would recommend investing in BridgeVoice AI!
