Hello everyone, my name is Nathalie Stokes and I am an elementary school teacher who merges my love of travel with being an educator by working in international schools. I grew up as an expat with my parents in four countries but have mostly lived in Vancouver, BC before studying in Montreal, QC for my undergraduate degree. Most recently I was working as a founding member of Hanoi Toronto School (HTS) which is a Canadian International School in Hanoi, Vietnam. When I worked as a curriculum developer and focused on scaffolding the school culture I realised I wanted to continue my own education, through this program at UBC, to be able to help students and schools be as successful as possible. I started the program in the Fall of 2023 so this is my second semester and fourth course so far. There have been so many times in my career where I have felt that if I had the skills and tools to be able to create my own resources I would be able to help so many more students and educators. Through this course, I hope to learn more about how teachers can become innovators who can impact more than their singular classrooms or communities in amazing ways. I have some specific areas of interest in sustainable education and utilizing technology to impact our world in positive ways through education and development. I am an avid traveler and strive to learn from as many people and places as possible. I think people are our greatest resource in life so please do not hesitate to reach out and collaborate on projects!

Hi Nathalie! Wow, must have been really cool to work on establishing an international school. I have had friends move to Vietnam to live and work teaching English and they all rave about it. I hope to visit someday.
Cheers!
Great to see you in another class! I’m happy to benefit from your experiences again – and I envy your traveling!
