As a Project Manager, I find PMI\u2019s (Project Management Institute) megatrends analysis, a tool that provides actionable insights on the upcoming major changes that could impact projects. The 2021 report particularly dives deeper to understand the disruptive nature of the pandemic and how it has impacted education, work, and our day-to-day lives as program managers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I highly suggest that you read the entire report (\u2248 20 pages), however, below, you can find a quick synopsis of the key megatrends, as identified by PMI:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. COVID-19<\/li>
  2. Climate Crisis<\/li>
  3. Civil, Civic, and Equality Movements<\/li>
  4. Shifting Globalization Dynamics<\/li>
  5. Mainstream Artificial Intelligence<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The report outlines three (3) ways that organizations<\/u><\/strong> can target\/embrace the aforementioned megatrends and adjust accordingly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Making Social Impact Projects a Strategic Priority<\/li>
    2. Fostering Open and Innovative Partnership Ecosystems<\/li>
    3. Rethinking Relationships with Customers and Wider Stakeholders<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      This report also explains what we – as individuals<\/u><\/strong> – can do, to alleviate the unpredictability of future events and thrive in the ecosystem of Changemakers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. New ways of working, including agile, waterfall, and hybrid methodologies, and digital project management approaches such as problem-solving tools, AI-driven tools, and microlearning apps<\/li>
      2. Power skills, such as collaborative leadership, innovative mindset, empathy for the voice of the customer, empathy for the voice of the employee, and the ability to build trusting relationships<\/li>
      3. Business acumen<\/li>
      4. Continuous Learning (not part of the original list)<\/em><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        PS<\/strong>: this post is probably not directly related to the educator audience, but in my humble opinion it provides useful future-planning guidance for anyone who manages any sort of project, program, portfolio, operation, policy, etc.\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
