No, we aren\u2019t talking about the hottest new fashion trends in this opportunity, but rather wearables technology in the form of smart devices. Wearable devices are developed to detect and analyze data and transmit information to the user or the implementor of technology. This data can be tracked, assessed and used to help the user make informed decisions about personalized health goals and healthy lifestyles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some examples of wearable technology include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bracelets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Watches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sweatbands<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heart monitors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>VR headsets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Glasses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some examples of data collected can include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exercise duration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heart rate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Steps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exertion levels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Calories burned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/view\/wearables-in-education\/introduction\">Opportunity Forecas<\/a>t looks at wearables through the lens of Educational Technology and some of the exciting applications it can have on the motivation of students in Physical Health Education (PHE) including improvements in personalized health goal setting and improved lifelong physical activity habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what might this look like in education?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the end of the week please provide one of the following in the discussion below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"a\">\n<li>An experience you have had with wearables in education. This can be something you have implemented yourself or witnessed in an educational framework. Briefly explain the activity or experience and comment on your thoughts about benefits or potential issues.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Does implementing wearables in education bring inspiration or exciting ideas of application? What can you imagine the future looking like with access to wearables? Briefly explain your ideas if you had the budget and access \u2013 dream big!
