{"id":11327,"date":"2014-06-07T21:51:41","date_gmt":"2014-06-08T04:51:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/etec522m.sites.olt.ubc.ca\/?p=11327"},"modified":"2014-06-07T21:51:41","modified_gmt":"2014-06-08T04:51:41","slug":"edmodo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec522sept13\/2014\/06\/07\/edmodo\/","title":{"rendered":"Edmodo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Founders-Nic Borg and Jeff O&#8217;Hara<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/etec522m.sites.olt.ubc.ca\/files\/2014\/06\/video-thumbnail.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11330\" src=\"http:\/\/etec522m.sites.olt.ubc.ca\/files\/2014\/06\/video-thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"video-thumbnail\" width=\"345\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nic Borg and Jeff O\u2019Hara founded Edmodo in 2008 in San Mateo, California.\u00a0 They are an example of intrapreneurs.\u00a0 Both worked within school districts as IT specialists and felt a need to disrupt the system and allow teachers and students to remain connected while in school while many schools and districts elsewhere were limiting these connections.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The key executives of Edmodo have significant experience as senior management of different education ventures and therefore Edmodo is under solid leadership moving forward.\u00a0 The development team behind Edmodo are all or were once teachers.\u00a0 This is a key for Edmodo to connect to educators.\u00a0 Anyone who is part of the Edmodo team is able to answer questions from educators as many if not all have been in the classroom.\u00a0 This is important for the development of Edmodo as a viable product that will enhance learning from a teacher\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Edmodo is Learning Management System (LMS) that connects students and teachers in a safe environment.\u00a0 It is designed to be familiar to students as the platform is very similar to Facebook and therefore is easy to use for both students and teachers.
