{"id":5261,"date":"2021-02-21T22:34:27","date_gmt":"2021-02-22T05:34:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec523\/?p=5261"},"modified":"2021-02-21T23:32:10","modified_gmt":"2021-02-22T06:32:10","slug":"coding-for-k-12-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec523\/2021\/02\/21\/coding-for-k-12-education\/","title":{"rendered":"A1 &#8211; Coding in K-12 Education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hi all,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For my A1 assignment, I looked into coding as a learning and teaching tool in K-12 education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Initially, even though I had seen many colleagues in my teaching discipline using  coding\/robotics in their classes, I was not so enthusiastic about incorporating coding in my teaching practice due to lack of knowledge, confidence and instructional time limitations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While completing this project, I have learned so much about coding, rationales behind this learning activities, resources to teachers, students and parents to develop the 21st century competencies &#8211; computational thinking skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I hope that my presentation motivates you to learn to code, incorporate coding into your teaching practice, and practice computational thinking skills in your lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Happy coding!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/spark.adobe.com\/page\/DNZwRDF7Rakdr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Coding in K-12 Education<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi all, For my A1 assignment, I looked into coding as a learning and teaching tool in K-12 education.
