Several years ago I was able to \u201cscrounge up\u201d enough iPads and laptops to try a single project with my class using it, and it was such a hit in terms of student engagement and display of learning. My school division just switched to Office 365 over the summer, and now we will be able to use this on our Chromebooks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because Minecraft is hugely popular across a wide range of ages, it definitely covers the engagement piece of learning. The \u201cpower of play\u201d aspect of the education edition is intriguing, really focusing on student problem solving, creating and building, coding, and making connections. There is a vast depository of resources such as tutorials, lessons, and downloadable worlds across the following subjects and topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec523\/files\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-17-at-7.08.06-PM-1024x369.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7044\" width=\"627\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec523\/files\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-17-at-7.08.06-PM-1024x369.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec523\/files\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-17-at-7.08.06-PM-300x108.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec523\/files\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-17-at-7.08.06-PM-768x277.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec523\/files\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-17-at-7.08.06-PM-1536x553.png 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/etec523\/files\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-17-at-7.08.06-PM-2048x738.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 627px) 100vw, 627px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Common Sense Media is a website I have often used to find objective information and reviews for technology and media for children. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commonsense.org\/education\/game\/minecraft-education-edition\">https:\/\/www.commonsense.org\/education\/game\/minecraft-education-edition<\/a> gives this program a perfect 5\/5 rating for learning and another strong community rating.&nbsp; It lists several pros as that it is highly engaging and improved teacher controls, a con is that students may not be used to interacting with the game in a guided fashion and that their last word is that it is \u201can excellent tool to engage students in learning, collaboration, and critical thinking is now more accessible than ever to teachers.\u201d I\u2019m very much interested in exploring Minecraft: Education Edition with my own class as well as for my first assignment for this course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am really interested in how Minecraft: Education Edition can be purposefully and effectively integrated into educational practices.
