Assignment 2 Information

Assignment 2: 35% end of week 13

Prepare a topic from your area of specialization and (a) design and develop an online instructional/workshop lesson that will embody the principles imbedded in CIM, POE and CCM models and other constructivist strategies of your choice for instruction; and (b) also, design and develop criteria which you would like your lesson to be judged – this is a rubric by which the extent of your lesson to embody constructivist principles will be assessed. Your lesson and evaluation rubric will be posted online and shared with the rest of the class on the course wiki site. The lesson should be for about 1 hour of instruction (although it is understood that in an online lesson one hour of interaction may work out to a longer timeframe in real time). This assignment should also include a personal reflection (of no more than 2 pages) on how this lesson incorporates constructivism and how this differs from your past design of this lesson (if the lesson is one you have used in the past). The reflections will be posted privately to the Assignment 2 upload area.

To create your online lesson you are allowed to use any format you choose to publish your work to the web so long as it is available to be viewed online by the instructor as well as other members of the class. Both UBC Wiki and UBC Blogs are good platforms to create your lesson, however, you are free to use other options as well. You will submit your lesson and share it with the class by posting a link to your work on the course wiki – http://wiki.ubc.ca/Course:ETEC530/projects. On the main course page, you will see links to separate pages for each term and section. Make sure to post your link on the correct page for the term and section you are enroled.
