The Staff
The Staff
The staff is where all of the music is written. The location of the notes written on the lines or spaces of the staff indicate what note to play. If it’s higher up on the staff, then it’s a high pitched note. If it’s lower, it’s a low pitched note. There are five lines and four spaces between the lines that the notes can sit on.
The staff can also have bars across it like this:
These are measure markings that we’ll talk about more in the Time Signatures Unit. For now, they are markings that indicate either the end of a measure, a section or the whole piece of music.
