The Treble Clef

There are two clefs that are used for most of the instruments, they are the treble clef and the bass clef. A clef is the symbol that sits at the start of the music and tells us how to read the notes on the staff.  The treble clef is higher is used for higher pitched instruments, and the bass clef for lower pitched instruments. Think about the settings on your car stereo and what the treble and bass controls do to the sound of the music. The bass brings out or quiets the low thumping bass, whereas the treble controls the higher end sounds.

The treble clef is also called the G clef because the it curls around the G line. It’s used for most of the higher pitched instruments and is the highest register clef. Each of the lines and spaces are a note and have a letter attached to them. The letters that are used are A B C D E F G.
