This unit will cover Ontario Ministry requirements for BTA 3O, Web Site design. The unit will be broken into 4 modules, with several lessons in each module. The estimated time allotted for the entire unit is 35 hours.
The culminating project will be to develop a web site for the school; Walkerville Collegiate for the performing arts. The class will be divided into 4 groups.
At the end of the unit, each group will showcase their web site to the school. All students will have a chance to vote. The winning site will be showcased to the administration in the hopes that it will be approved as the default school site.
The module details are as follows:
Module I
Students will participate in a variety of activities aimed at increasing their understanding about effective web design.
Module 2
This module will focus on the importance of planning a website. Various activities will allow students to evaluate particular methods of planning.
Module 3
This unit will focus on the importance of colour as well as allow students to gain some understanding to the standards established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
Module 4
This unit will provide students with the necessary skills to build their own web site. After the students have covered the lessons within this unit they will form into their assigned groups to begin building the school web site.
