(If you just sighed, then you know someone who has tried to do this insurmountable task!) Would you guess more than a billion combinations or less?<\/p>\n<p>How many winning lottery ticket combinations are there? More than a trillion or less?<\/p>\n<p>How easy is it to crack a safe? If it has 3 positions and you can use numbers from 0 to 9? More or less than 500?<\/p>\n<p>If you put your hand in a bag of coloured balls (5 colours) and take out 3, how many different possible combinations do you have?<\/p>\n<p>Write down your approximate guess for each one of these questions on a piece of paper and a reason why you think each answer is around that number.<\/p>\n<p>Statistics allows you to work these out.
