TELE Details

Technology Enhanced Learning Environment (TELE) Details

The iBooks author software is a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) eBook authoring desktop app available for free from the Mac App Store. It allows the user to author their own digital books with interactive components in a simple to use format. The interactive components that can be embedded into an iBook have been termed as widgets. These widgets are critical to the functionality of the iBook and their pedagogical underpinnings are described in detail under the pedagogical design tab. The final product can be viewed on an iPad as an interactive iBook, taking advantage of the tablets multi-touch interactive display. In the absence of an iPad, the iBook can also be viewed as a read only PDF with the interactive widgets simply appearing as images. Both options are available for downloading and viewing under the artifacts tab.

When describing a TELE, it is important to note the different environments involved. The technology space in this case would be comprised of the desktop and iPad hardware along with the iBooks author software. The technology-enhanced space would be comprised of the final iBook published to iTunes or shared in a classroom wiki. My design project will touch base on both spaces within the TELE, as you cannot have one without the other.
