Hello everyone!
My name is Jamie Husereau and, in no particular order, I am a wife, dog mom, sister, teacher, student, and friend among other things. I am originally from a small, rural town east of Edmonton, Alberta called Ardrossan (Go Bisons!), where most of my family still lives. I now live on a First Nations reserve with my husband and my little sister who has recently joined us in this beautiful remote community. The community is called Kwadacha First Nation, and it is located about 8 hours north of Prince George, BC, 6 of which are on a gravel logging road! There are approximately 450 people who live here and just under 100 students in our K-12 school. I am an elementary special education teacher and support students with diverse abilities, I was previously a high school teacher who taught all subjects.
My husband is an environmental scientist and we love all things outdoors. We enjoy hiking, camping, biking, kayaking, canoeing, sledding, snowshoeing, split boarding, hunting, fishing, boating, and just all-around being outside. We even winter camp in a tent on frozen lakes! We have the most amazing bush dog, Kona, who has protected us from bears a few times and counting. She loves to adventure with us everywhere and will even sit on the snowmobiles with us. Fetch is life to her and I have to warn others that if you throw once you throw forever.
This is my 9th course in the MET program, and I am taking my 10th alongside it this term. I have had an incredible experience in the program and although I am looking forward to getting a bit of time back, I will be sad to be finished.
