I live on Vancouver Island with my family and 3 cats.
I teach in a K-12 alternative online school where I facilitate a cohort of K-2 learners and a cohort of grade 7-9 learners. We use a hybrid method of online learning at home and in-class learning in the classroom.
I have been teaching for 22 years and have taught in Canada and the UK.
I am taking this course because as a dyslexic learner, language has always been different/difficult for me. I am looking to understand language and text better so that I can help neurodiverse learners, especially dyslexic ones, be successful in all aspects of their lives. I believe that tech can be a game changer for language and literacy education as we see reading, writing and information gathering spaces change everyday.
