Task 2: Does language shape the way we think?<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I chose Elizabeth\u2019s post because I read felt there was a connection in Week 2 – Language as Technology: Spoken language<\/p>\n<p>I felt she and I share a Korean background that perhaps our experience would have some similarities.<\/p>\n<p>I really resonated with her comment, <span style=\"color: #999999;\"><em>\u201cI found myself comparing my knowledge of English grammar to Korean grammar as well. From my personal knowledge and from what I have gathered about Asian language through peers, I\u2019ve always found that it takes on a quite scientific form. Like you mentioned, the verb always stays the same and additional words are added. There are no exceptions. I think we both had similar thoughts about punctuations and how without punctuation that it can confuse your reader\/listener, <span style=\"color: #999999;\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>I suddenly realized how confusing a simple story could become without punctuations. Especially the conversations between characters is hard to understand.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"96\">Jessica Shea<\/td>\n<td width=\"371\"><a href=\"https:\/\/etec540shea.weebly.com\/manual-scripts.html\">https:\/\/etec540shea.weebly.com\/manual-scripts.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I chose Jessica\u2019s post during Week 4\u2019s Manual Scripts task. I found out that Jessica also likes to, <span style=\"color: #999999;\">\u201cI like to both type and write by hand.\u201d<\/span> She is a teacher just like me we had very similar ideas about writing, <span style=\"color: #999999;\">\u201cWhen writing by hand, it is much more difficult to correct a mistake when writing with certain utensils. For example, I used a pen to write, so instead of erasing a pencil, or backspacing on a keyboard, I just scratched over what I had written.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This was what resonated with me the most because I also think like this, <span style=\"color: #999999;\"><em>\u201cI also, found that I was writing off the top of my head, which didn\u2019t allow me to organize my written work as best I wanted to. So when I got to a certain point, I couldn\u2019t just copy and paste things and reorder them. I had to keep writing and organize my thoughts as best I could from then on out.\u201d<\/em> <\/span>I require more time to brainstorm and find it challenging sometimes to write off the top of my head.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica\u2019s webpage layout, font, colours are all things I would use for my own. I really like how her weeks were organized at the top, with a drop down option.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"96\">Ev Tsang<\/td>\n<td width=\"371\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mlyne2010.wixsite.com\/etec540evt\/project-05\">https:\/\/mlyne2010.wixsite.com\/etec540evt\/project-05<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Twine Task- Exam<\/p>\n<p>Ev made a twine task was about taking an exam and mine was about weekends plans- it\u2019s very different but perhaps we choose topics that were relevant in our lives. Her twine was designed better than mine in the sense that she was able to put more effects into hers.<\/p>\n<p>I found Ev\u2019s webpage to be very unique. It was not your generic website with menus on the top. Each task was represented with an image that lead to a new page. However, because of this experience I wonder if this outcome is an unlikely exception or if diversity as an operational selection methodology statistically may be less significant than it seems.”<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I felt that this task left some of us with more questions and it was more food for thought.
