This was an interesting assignment as it required me to think more about general ideas as opposed to traditional sentence structures. I had to rely entirely on finding emojis that captured the essence of the ideas that I was trying to convey. There was no way I could possibly do a word-for-word translation of what I was trying to convey with emojis and syllables would have been excessively complex for this assignment.
I started with the title mostly to see if I could even come up with the proper representation for the title of the story that I was doing. I ended up adding the final emoji a bit later as I realized I had only done the series title and needed to include a representation of the specific piece of media that I was covering. The title quickly showed me how challenging finding visual representations for some ideas (no matter how lateral one may try thinking) was going to be challenging. My description of the main character and his abilities was a challenge as he has powers that are very specifically unique to this series, and I have not come across anything parallel to them. I had initially used a wizard emoji to convey his abilities but felt that he was not really a wizard and was closer to a superhero of sorts, so I went back and changed that later.
I chose this work because I felt it would be easiest to translate to emoji as I had a few ideas about what emojis would be able to be used to best represent the plot. These ideas fell flat rather quickly once I started writing out the plot in emojis. What I discovered was that I instead would have to come up with a series of key plot points and try to convey those in a meaningful way that would hopefully be translatable. I do think that unless you are familiar with the series that I am describing a person will find it quite challenging to fully understand the description of the powers that the hero has; especially as they are rather unconventional powers. I will be interested to see if anyone is able to translate this accurately.
