Final Assignment

Posted by in Final Project

For the final assignment, I wanted to explore the idea of how the implementation of graphic organizers in elementary school classrooms can enhance learning experiences in literacy. I presented my research and findings in a short article. I also wanted to include some tangible resources, so there is a section of different websites of digital and paper graphic organizer templates, as well as how to customize and create your own.   https://docs.google.com/document/d/1f5OOR9oJNEoV_kTZKfMiTTj1XQIY8-euwtD38C91dYI/edit?usp=sharing

Linking Assignment for Task 3

Posted by in Linking Assignment

Deborah’s Task 3   In this assignment, Deborah and I made similar observations and conclusions from the voice to text activity. As expected, the text from this assignment appeared more conversational than formal. Our thoughts would trail on as we rambled and punctuation was incorrect or non-existent. However, the fact that we have knowledge of sentence structure and how to properly format writing, I think affects the way that we speak.   Building on Deborah’s ideas, oral storytelling aims to pass on knowledge from one group or generation to the…read more

Linking Assignment for Task 5

Elaine’s Task 5   I really enjoyed experiencing Elaine’s Twine task and seeing what a day in kindergarten looked like. To be honest, it’s not that much different in grade 6/7, especially with the group I have this year. I found her day very relatable, rushing to prepare materials, managing behaviours, communicating with parents, and the unexpected things that come up during the day that take up our break and prep times. It was great to see another Twine task, as I saw how Elaine used the application. I thought…read more

Linking Assignment Task 2

Seime’s Task 2   In Seime’s assignment, he shared his thoughts on how language and cultural identity are synonymous. He shared his personal experiences by demonstrating stark differences in common phrases in different languages. I found some connections between Seime’s experiences and mine as I had explained in my own assignment. I am a second generation Canadian, where I grew up speaking Cantonese and English in my household. My partner is also bilingual, where he grew up in Hungary and moved to Canada when he was 13.    Language structures…read more

Linking Assignment Task 12

Amy’s Task 12   I enjoyed reading Amy’s scenario based on her prompt. Her scenario was more uplifting from mine, as she aimed to elicit feelings of cheer, whereas mine was the feeling of dread. However, it was interesting comparing our thoughts on the future based on these scenarios. There is definitely a commonality of a sense of disorder as the organizations and structures that establish our ways of life within our societies have fallen apart.    In the Chronicles of Now podcast by Ashley C. Ford, she has authors…read more

Linking Assignment Task 4

Sarah’s Task 4   In Sarah’s assignment, I connected with a lot of the thoughts she shared as I experienced some of the same things as her. In the handwriting task, like Sarah, I don’t typically handwrite for extended periods of time. I found this task challenging as well in the sense that I didn’t have as much writing stamina as I used to due to the convenience and norm of typing. I had to take frequent breaks, which would interrupt my thoughts and flow of what I was writing. …read more

Linking Assignment for Task 7

Jessie’s Task 7 Jessie’s Mode-Bending assignment was very engaging and such a creative take on the assignment. She showed what was in her bag in an “unboxing” style, which is a popular type of video seen on social media. I think that it was a relevant way of sharing information given the way we consume content. Not only did she film herself, but included product information and her personal uses or connection with each item. This made the video almost persuasive, as she was raving about her bag because of…read more

Task 12 – Speculative Futures

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

Describe or narrate a scenario about a building found a few years into a future in which society as we know it has come apart. Your description should address issues related to the court system and elicit feelings of dread.   In this scenario, society has fallen apart and in chaos. Resources are scarce worldwide and people are ignoring laws, their country’s sense of order and typical way of life to fulfill their basic needs. It is essentially survival of the fittest in this society. The city we are in…read more

Task 9 – Network Assignment Using Golden Record Curation Quiz Data

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

The Palladio app provides insightful data based on our class’ quiz results from our song choices. I like how the app maps out the different song choices and the connections between everyone, as well as the frequency each particular song was chosen. It’s informative to see how similarly and different we chose the songs. Evidently, we do not have each others’ written responses to provide reasons for our given choices, so there will be some assumptions made throughout this assignment when interpreting the data. I have included a screenshot…read more
