Task 12 – Speculative Futures

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

Describe or narrate a scenario about a building found a few years into a future in which society as we know it has come apart. Your description should address issues related to the court system and elicit feelings of dread.   In this scenario, society has fallen apart and in chaos. Resources are scarce worldwide and people are ignoring laws, their country’s sense of order and typical way of life to fulfill their basic needs. It is essentially survival of the fittest in this society. The city we are in…read more

Task 9 – Network Assignment Using Golden Record Curation Quiz Data

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

The Palladio app provides insightful data based on our class’ quiz results from our song choices. I like how the app maps out the different song choices and the connections between everyone, as well as the frequency each particular song was chosen. It’s informative to see how similarly and different we chose the songs. Evidently, we do not have each others’ written responses to provide reasons for our given choices, so there will be some assumptions made throughout this assignment when interpreting the data. I have included a screenshot…read more

Task 6 – An Emoji Story

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

This task was quite enjoyable, as I got to analyze one of my favourite shows that I have watched many times. It was challenging at first to sift through all the emojis and to find ones that encapsulated the messages that I wanted to convey. There were times as well that I wanted to communicate something, but there weren’t appropriate emojis. For example, one of my characters loves mango yogurt. I could find a mango emoji, but there was no yogurt one. The closest ones were milk and ice cream,…read more

Task 5 – Twine Task

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

Camping Trip Overall, I really enjoyed learning how to use Twine for this assignment. The tutorial was easy to follow, and has so many links to coding that it was easy for me to follow due to my engineering background. I think that this is such a neat way to do storytelling, and can make links to the BC ADST curriculum because of the coding links. I think that there is so much potential with this application, and it has already given me some ideas to use in the classroom…read more

Task 3 – Manual Scripts & Potato Printing

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

In my response, I have written a reflection on a field trip that I took my class on this past week. I provided a bit of context and reflected on the overall experience. To view my handwritten response, please use this link.               Do you normally write by hand or type? Did you find this task difficult or easy? Explain. Day to day, I normally type my writing. This is due to the nature of how I communicate with others (by email), and for…read more

Task 3 – Voice to Text Task

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

My Knitting Journey For the story that I will be telling in task three, I will be sharing my experiences and journey with knitting. Knitting has been something that I’ve been doing my whole life. I first got into knitting from my mom. She needed before she had me, so she had all the knitting needles, techniques, and patterns to share with me. Before the accessibility with YouTube, she would teach me all the things that I need to know with a knitting. I remember the first project I made…read more

Task 2 – Does Language Shape the Way we Think?

Posted by in Tasks, Uncategorized

[4:30] Dr. Boroditsky gives the example of translating a sentence in English to other languages and mentions that depending on the language it is being translated to, there may be some hurdles. In her example there may be some difficulties in the sense that there might not be a word for “blue” or “left”. Growing up in my own experience learning Cantonese, there were certain phrases in both English and Cantonese that did not have a specific word in the other language. There could be synonyms, but not a direct…read more
