It looks like your experience for the “Attention Economy” assignment was perfectly authentic. During my attempt the frustrations had me snickering to myself until I finally gave up. I think it says a lot about how important attention needs to be captured and directed to keep the user experience a positive one.
Hi Neil:
it also did make me wonder: Was it that we NEED our attentions to be captured or was it that we were conditioned and used to our attention being captured and that we are lazy to find our ways or deem the application “bad” if it doesn’t capture our attention the way it always has? Of course, children being less conditioned would be someone to look at, but that’s also hard to make a comparison since they may not read as well or have a purpose like adults would when viewing a site like this.
