The following is a summary of my overall learning from the course. The “catch” is that I tried to use all of the tags from the weblog’s tag cloud in order to indicate the making of connections. This was actually a little more challenging than I initially anticipated!<\/p>\n
The changing spaces of reading<\/a> and writing<\/a> are represented through both text<\/a> and technology<\/a> and demonstrate a cultural <\/a> shift in the way we produce, consume and manipulate words<\/a> and ideas. Oral cultures<\/a>, through storytelling<\/a>, laid the foundation by which future generations would evolve into literate <\/a>cultures and ultimately, the printing press<\/a> ensured the immortalization of the written word<\/a>. Artifacts <\/a>of the past serve as visual<\/a> reminders of the changing way in which text is defined<\/a> and technology is defined<\/a>. Through technology<\/a>, the concept of literacy<\/a> has exploded to encompass multiliteracies<\/a> in an effort to recognize the different ways we come to read<\/a> and understand information. Modern affordances of typographic<\/a> culture, such as the wave we are currently riding referred to as Web 2.0<\/a>, encompasses the remixes <\/a>and mash-ups <\/a>that are blurring the lines between traditional methods and innovation. Moving forward, it is clear that hypertext<\/a> will continue to redefine the way traditionally stagnant language<\/a> is represented and ultimately, text<\/a> technologies<\/a> will be at the forefront of change in education, communication<\/a> and, of course, writing<\/a> itself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The following is a summary of my overall learning from the course.
