I have always heard the definition of technology as “anything that extends human capabilities” so I chose these images to highlight that. I recently got a new transducer for my boat and needed to mount it without making holes in my boat (for anyone who does not know, holes in a boat are bad ;-))I decided to draw it and 3D print it to be magnetic to stick to my boat without holes. The first picture is the original drawing I made and the second is what it looked like after I printed it. I have not put it on my boat yet, or I would have posted that picture too.
I am teacher at a Middle school in Comox Valley, who recently move to the island from Surrey with my family. It has been an amazing year learning a new community and I am looking forward to spending the summer with friends and family enjoying the beach and the outdoors.
I took this course because it is my 6th course in the MET program and I am done all the core courses and it looked the most interesting of the elective choices offered this semester. I look forward to learning something new with everyone. This is the first course I have taken without knowing anyone else in the course, so I am looking forward to meeting new people too.
Looking forward to learning something new.

Thanks for sharing your invention and real life application of 3D printing! I often wondered what people might use 3D printing for.
Cheers!

Hi Zale,
If you are a teacher in a middle school in the Comox Valley then I am thinking you work at Lake Trail. If so, I live about 2 blocks away. I work in Gold River so I am away most weekdays but if you’d like to get together on weekends then I am game!
Respect,
Ken

Great use of 3D printing! We use it quite a bit in our elementary classes here. I am amazed at what the students can create on Tinkercad and watching it come to life is something that I never thought I would see. Looking forward to learning from you in this course.

Hey Zale,
3d printing has been something that I have wanted to explore for a while now. Hopefully I can pick your brain a little as to where to start with my school.

Hi Zale,
Nice to meet you!
Your 3D printed solution seems rather ingenious!
Like you, I am really looking forward to the summer sun and spending some time outdoors. I think this course will speak to the intellectual side on my vacation plans. I am happy to be embarking on this new journey with someone who knows how to patch up a boat… !)
