Hi everyone!
My name is Ingrid. I am an elementary school Teacher-Librarian with the Surrey school district. I also work as a Learning Support Teacher. I also live in Surrey with my partner and two little kiddos. I enjoy coaching basketball, volleyball and soccer at my current school and I get coach my son’s basketball team outside of school. This is my second semester and class #2 in the MET program.
I picked the image above because I get a kick out of relatable memes. I sometimes design or create some of my own for my personal IG account and also for my classes. This image in particular was created by a science teacher, somewhere, it didn’t say. As many teachers do, I am always looking for ways to teach content that will speak to the generation I am trying to engage. If we are referring text as a form of relaying information, these memes clearly only have one word, but the pictures themselves contain so much description and might even elicit relatable emotions in the viewers (students). This image also depicts how much social media and popular culture affects how we learn, teach and interact with one another.
I am really looking forward to this semester and learning with and from everyone!
