Hello All,
My name is Michael Yates and I am currently teaching English in Brunei (a small country in Borneo). I have 2 kids and this is my second or
or third MET course (currently taking two, decided to drop one). I hope to be done the program by the end of 2019 and move onto greener pastures!
In my free time I teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (rather odd martial art that is a mix between Judo and Wrestling), spend time with my two little crazies and over think every aspect of my existence :).
I chose the image below because it is something I struggle with (especially in an academic context). I find the higher you go in academia the more words they use to describe the same things (there were a few articles in my ETEC 540 that made me shake my head). I am a person of “few words” and prefer when things get straight to the point (without all the flowery language). Yes, probably not a great idea for me to be in a Masters program, but hey I am here anyway!
Look forward to reading everyone’s incites and ideas in regards to text technologies. Best of luck all.

Hey Michael,
I feel exactly the same as you in terms of getting to the point! Many times throughout this program I have found myself frustrated with the wordiness of posts and articles. I think we will enjoy reading each other’s posts this term!
