Hello everybody,

The main image is of an inscription on a stone tablet in Thessaloniki. I chose it because it represents (to me) two of the most significant developments in human history. Firstly, the invention of a writing system. Secondly,  inscription on a medium that would not perish as time marched on. Greek is not the earliest writing system, but I have a special connection with it. Hence it being my first choice for an ancient text to use here.

I am fascinated by language (in general) and writing (in particular). I would love to learn more about the unique relationship between technology and text. I am hopeful that this course will afford me the opportunity to explore this phenomenon more fully. I would also relish the opportunity to study the ways in which this relationship influences education.

I look forward to getting to know everyone as the course progresses!
