Hello all
For my Rip.Mix.Feed I wanted to look at the changes in the internet over the past 3 years. One of the interesting graphics that has been published every year for the past 3 – 4 years is “The Internet in 60 Seconds” chart. It looks at what happens on-line in 60 seconds and some of the numbers are staggering and amazing. The research and graphic are done by research and marketing firms and I am sure the data is used to look at trends, that can be marketed to.
I used a program called draw.io to create a graphic, maybe not the best choice, but it worked okay. I could see it being really useful for a Prezi type presentation. In my case I use Camtasia as a screen capture for it and then used Camtasia to edit it all together. For anyone that has not used Camtasia it is great! Plus its Free for UBC students. I didn’t like listening to myself in the documentary assignment, so in this video I tried to communicate non-verbally. Its a bit harder to read than I wanted, but I hope its okay.
Here is my video, its a bit longer than I wanted too,
The one bit that stood out for me was the increase in Netflix….what stands out for you?

Thanks for this Zale! Hip and fun music with eye-catching graphics. The sheer volume of Internet communications dwarfs the historical epoc of text technology. I really appreciate you giving this encompassing view, it changed my thinking.
Also thanks for introducing draw.io. I tried it out and am excited about creating with it in the future.
18 million text messages per minute in 2018?! Text messaging should be a major part of this course!
