I changed topics in my mind for the multimedia project several times before settling on exploring the past, present, and future of the Web. I was fascinated by some of the visionaries that we studied in module 4, such as Bush, Engelbart, and Nelson for their ability to predict future developments and needs in computing science, and their proposals that at times seem superior to the Web we currently have. This fascination prompted me to investigate current predictions of where the Web may be heading, or “Web 3.0.” Rather than focusing exclusively on future predictions, I decided to place Web 3.0 in historical context and explore the past, present and future of the Web.

I created a website using Weebly. I have never attempted to create a website, so I wanted to challenge myself, and figured it would be an appropriate medium to organize the different areas of my study and to embed articles and videos of interest for further investigation (such as a Facebook style “Trending News” section). While creating the website I kept in mind an audience outside of this course, so I created a general overview of Web 1.0- Web 3.0 while incorporating additional resources to attempt to create a hub of information.
