I’m very late to the party. I tackled the use of technology – focused on writing tools – in unifying the Chinese language. Half way through creating the narrative, I found that ten minutes is not enough to delve into the material required to really discuss the importance of writing tools to China surviving as a culture. To gain a true appreciation, it was necessary to acknowledge 5000 years of history, and gain an understanding of the logographic evolution of the language itself. The video contains what I feel is the bare minimum amount of information to begin to understand the importance of writing to the survival of the Chinese civilization.

Attached below is my write up. The research for this was messy as there were less peer reviewed sources of information than I expected. I had to refer to some Chinese sources, as well as wikipedia/encyclopedia, and used the information that checked out from multiple sources.
