In recent years, the Academie Francaise proposed new spellings for more than 2,400 French language words in order to simplify the learning of the written language. Some of the changes included the deletion of the circumflex accent (^) and hyphens in words. Many francophones were not happy with the news that some words would be losing their beloved circumflex accent (^), often referred to as “little hats” by French Language Learners. The phrase “nivellement par le bas”, which loosely translates to “dumbing down” was tweeted with hashtags #ReformeOrthographe and #JeSuisCirconflexe.
All languages change over time. The English language is no exception. My multimedia project is on the topic of social media and how it is one of the biggist growing influencers in transforming the English language. In my Wix page I look at Social Media and Its Impact on the English Language, including the introduction of new words, new meanings for existing words, and changes in the way we communicate.

I have used Weebly in the past, but have heard that Wix is very intuitive and have been wanting to try it out for some time. For my multimedia project I decided to seize the opportunity to try out a new platform and create my first Wix page. It’s definitely rough around the edges, but I will try using Wix again for future projects.

Hi Amy,
Your Wix page is very eye catching. As you have shown, I can see how it can be a very effective medium conveying a message through text and through a visual environment. For my Rib, Mix and Feed project I did a timeline and would have loved to have the videos playing in the background.
But back to your message. It is such a fascinating time in history that we are witnessing. Social media technologies are really changing everything albeit some more subtly than others. I wonder if those that witnessed the spread of printed text experienced the same level of concern with the unfettered book trade of Renaissance?
