Hi everyone!

My name is Jo, and ETEC540 is the3rd class I have taken in the MET program. I’ve also taken the leap to take another class at the same time this semester, and I’m taking ETEC565M alongside this one.
ETEC511 challenged me to think about what constitutes “technology” and I’m excited to now think about what constitutes “text” and how these two fit together in the context of this course. I’m excited to work with you all on this course.
In one of the intros the conversation about how writing with pen and paper affects our learning really interests me. To highlight this, I chose the picture of an Apple pencil set alongside a printout of typed notes, which I feel opens up the discussion further. I’ve read research in the past that talks about how writing with pen and paper to record notes affects our brain differently than if we were to type using digital media … I am assuming this would then also have the same or similar affects if we were to substitute the pen and paper with an Apple pen or other such device? And would using this form of technology to record text actually have any different effect on our brain? I found this fun infographic online and I wonder if we could apply all of the pros listed to using a digital version of the pen also?
