Hello From Hong Kong!
My name is Suzzie, and this is my second (third or fourth, depending on how you order the classes I’m registered in for this semester) MET class.
I am a Drama teacher at the Canadian International School of Hong Kong, and though I hail from Calgary Alberta, after completing the Education program at the University of Lethbridge, I moved overseas, and I’ve been teaching overseas for 15 years now.
I recently finished a Masters in Applied Theatre and Drama Education from Griffith University in Brisbane, and found that all of my best Applied Theatre research ideas had a technological element, so I decided to undertake this program next! I’m particularly interested in how technology can be used, not only to facilitate the creation of art, but as part of the art itself.
I’m looking forward to this class as I imagine there will be some fascinating discussions, and my step-father always told me I talked too much…
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Suzzie

Hi Suzzie,
What a colorful profile you have! I don’t know much about “applied theatre” but I imagine it’s a great space for arts and tech to merge. We’re going to see new professions emerge out of this digital age. I struggle with explaining my own career path as an arts student, turned professional accountant, now a wannabe journalist. I find myself constantly debunking the myth that “artsy” people can’t do math. It’s hard for people to see that a creative mind actually involves subjective thinking AND a technical skillset.
