Introduction – Adam Brody

My interpretation of evolution of text and technology.

My interpretation of evolution of text and technology.

Hello everybody,

The picture I selected is a series of three objects. I selected these after I read through the ‘Defining Terms’ reading, which asked, “What is text? What is technology?” The three objects I selected were: My iPhone, a pencil and in the center is a picture of thousand year old Bedouin pictographs that I took in Jordan. This picture, to me, symbolizes the evolution of text and technology throughout history.

My name is Adam Brody and this is my first course in the MET program. I literally have not been to ‘school’ in nine years so this is somewhat intimidating. This is quite ironic, I realize, coming from a teacher.

I am originally from Toronto (lets go Blue Jays) and have been teaching elementary school for the past seven years. All seven of these years have been on the international scene in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Currently right now I am teaching in Abu Dhabi at a school known as GEMS American Academy.

I am living out in the sweltering desert with my wife Aniko and son Kavlin. They are wisely avoiding the heat right now and will be joining me in the next couple weeks.

I look forward to getting to know you and working with you all.

Stay cool.
Adam Brody

  1. Hi Adam,
I like your interpretation of the picture you have chosen. I too am sweltering under the haze drifting in from Indonesia, as I live in Brunei. Hope it lets up for you and me. Looking forward to hearing your contributions in the course.
