Introduction- Rave Selvadurai Fisher
Hi everyone,
This image was taken by my friend a few days ago on our trip to Kerala, India. The reason it struck me so profoundly was because of the old Hebrew writing chiseled on a stone tablet in an abandoned cemetery in busy Fort Kochi. The area is known as “Jew Town” and was once the bustling centre of trade and commerce in the fort.
I found it ironic, that the photograph viewed as a historical piece of information had been documented by her new I-phone 6- which one day may itself be viewed as a historical piece of technology.
My name is Rave and this is my sixth and seventh courses in the MET programme. I live on the the island of Borneo in the Sultanate of Brunei. I am really looking forward to exploring these new platforms for communication.
Welcome to ETEC 540 Rave!
Hey Rave:)
I too have visited this site and found it fascinating. Yes, there is definitely some irony here as in many cases where we take so much of our day-to-day uses of technology for granted without even noticing, let alone questioning, what we are actually seeing/using/interpreting…
I look forward to working with you!
Hi Rave, I like to photograph businesses in my neighbourhood as the close down/ transform/ gentrify to try to document my changing neighbourhood (Leslieville, Toronto). I usually take these pictures with my iPhone 4, already a historical piece of technology!
Hi Randy,
That is a super interesting neighborhood. I loved watching Riverdale transform over the years when my kids were young.
