Introduction – Mary Stephenson
This image I took of my trusty old Oxfords next to my computer was too tempting not to take. When I started thinking about this course, I went back to my undergraduate days. Research then meant spending time in dusty old stacks and printed material was the only option. Many years later I am starting a completely online program. The difference in a relatively short period is amazing. I can’t yet imagine what we will have in another 20 years! I left the old hard-drives I have been working on in front of the computer….they were both victims of a crash. Let’s just say the Oxfords never did that.
I graduated from English and Law at UBC and practiced law for a little while before migrating to adult education. I taught at private colleges for 15 years, spending the last 10 as senior education manager. Now I support my husband in his software development business, and I have just started as the librarian for Courtenay and Campbell River Courthouse Libraries. I am plotting a new, better educated return to education, and I look forward to learning from this course and all my new colleagues.

I saw your post just after I posted mine. Our posts have different ideas behind them, but I did a double take at first because of the similarity with the computers! 🙂
Great post!
I remember those days in the library with stacks upon stacks of books! Seems like a lifetime ago:)
Good to have you here Mary, Welcome!
