Introduction: Maureen Boyle

slow

This has been an interesting week.  So much of what I’ve read or heard has given rise to a mindstorm of thoughts, questions, and ideas.  The best part was having a rich conversation with my partner. Over a bottle of wine we discussed the history, the influence, and the power of text and the influences of technology.  It was a great way to review and explore what I understood.

I not sure about anyone else but I really appreciate the spontaneity and colour of a face to face discussion.  A lot of times I find composing thoughts  and ideas through writing more taxing.  It is a slower and more deliberate process than a face to face discussion. I choose this picture to represent the idea that writing text as a way of sharing and communicating can be a slow process.  The picture also shows a horizon with interesting and unfamiliar landmarks.  For me these landmarks represent the learning that lies ahead.  I’m excited to be in this course. This is my 6th course and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store.

  1. Hi Maureen,
I really enjoyed reading your introduction. You raised a valid point in that writing text is a much slower process then communicating face to face. While I think that can be a good thing, as it gives you time to reflect and sort your thoughts, it can also take away from the initial spontaneity and emotion behind the message.
I wish you the best in this course and I look forward to learning alongside of you.
