Video Documentary: The Penny Press
I chose to do my documentary on the Penny Press. I looked at how the Penny Press was both a product of its time and a revolution in Newspapers, having a lasting effect on journalistic standards and contents in Newspapers even today.

I chose to work within Powtoon to create my documentary as it is fairly easy to use. One of the biggest drawbacks with Powtoon is that everything is a maximum of 20 seconds per scene. This meant that I needed to ensure that I broke my script up into small increments. Fiddling around with the speed of my reading to ensure that it is understandable yet fitting everything into the scene was challenging at times. To top my frustrations with the voice over, I lost my voice for the majority of last week. There are times in the video where my voice isn’t as loud as I would like it to be. This is not a technical glitch, but rather it is because my voice simply wouldn’t project any further. I really enjoy doing projects like this, because it is so different from what I was able to do when I was in high school or university. Playing around with these types of programs allows me to take this knowledge back into my classroom and be more creative with my students.
